How do you know when it's time to change your pressure regulator and if you even have one. What do do if you think your water pressure is too high or low, for that matter. In any event, you should always call your local plumber if you 're not sure. Here's a list of what could happen and what does happen if you suspect something's a little off.

High water pressure can cause some problems, including the following: Broken or burst pipes Continual sound of running water Running toilets Damage to water heaters, dishwashers, refrigerators, ice makers, and washing machines Banging pipe sounds (aka water hammer) Leaking sprinkler valves High water bills Dripping faucets Having the right water pressure coming into your home is good for your plumbing, your appliances, your wallet, and the environment. And with just some small adjusting, a water pressure regulator should last for a long time. If you're not sure if you have a water pressure regulator but suspect your pressure might be too high, grab your pressure gauge or call your plumber.
